And then there were four

And then there were four.
By our tally there were three Black Bears that gave the Hawkeye State a chance. That was until last week. A farmer in Howard County flushed a bear from a swatch of corn during harvest. The bear looked sleek and fat. I count that bear as number four.
Now is the time when bears begin to den, driven to do so by diminished daylight, colder days, and reduced foraging opportunities. Will any of this season's bears pass the new year in the land between the rivers?
