FWS proposes to de-list this southern bruin of the swamps. The Louisiana subspecies (U.a. luteolus) likely had fewer than 100 members in two populations at the time listing in 1992. The
Recovery Plan of 1995 predicted it would take until 2025 to accomplishing de-listing. Well done, achieving the goal in 33% less time than planned. The Endangered Species Act works!
